Garden City, N.Y. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Tuesday, July 15, the men's 2008 Division II Track and Field Scholar Teams of the Year. Adelphi University was on a list of 27 teams that was headed by the University of Tampa. This is the first time in program history that the Panthers have been honored as a program by the USTFCCCA.

The Panthers posted a GPA of 3.087, ranking them 18th in the nation. Adelphi had a strong season in 2007-08, missing a podium spot at the indoor Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championship by one place, finishing fourth. At the outdoor CTC Championship the Panthers placed 10th overall. In all Adelphi captured the indoor 4x800 meter relay title and won the CTC heat at the PENN Relays with a season best time of 3:20.64.

Minnesota State University (Mankato) was selected as the 2008 Indoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year, and the University of North Dakota was chosen as this year's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
