Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team will earned the #2 seed in the East Coast Conference tournament and will play host to seventh seeded Molloy College on Wednesday, March 5. The game will tip off at 7:00 pm in Woodruff Hall and the game will be the final basketball game played in the building. Adelphi (18-9) is on a five game win streak and the Panthers swept the season series with Molloy (10-17). Adelphi won 74-65 in Woodruff Hall on November 28 and followed that up with a 57-52 road win on January 26. Molloy is 2-8 since the loss to Adelphi on January 26. Vincent Falzone and Glenn Martin led the Molloy attack, with Falzone averaging a double-double (18.3 points, 12.5 rebounds) and Martin chipping in 16.6 points per game. Molloy also has three players who average seven points or better in Girard Fitts, Brian Hutchinson and Kyle Dongo. In addition Molloy is 4-10 away from home this season. Adelphi is 11-2 at home this season and are led by a trio of players in double figures, Richard Byrd, Alvin Vivican and Sky Khaleel. Byrd leads the team, scoring 13.3 points per game and pulling down 4.2 misses. Vivican averages 10.8 points a game and leads the team in assits (51), while Khaleel chips in 10 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds. Chris Diasparra is also dangerous scoring nine points and grabbing five rebounds per game, while Pat Luptowski is second on the team in three-pointers made (42) and tops in three-point shooting percentage (.457). Adelphi leads the all-time series with Molloy, 29-4 and have won nine out of the last 10 meetings, with the loss coming on January 25, 2006, 64-60. The Panthers have also won six straight ECC tournament games, having captured the last two ECC tournament crowns.
